Information for side event organizers

Sponsorship
Sponsorship applications have now closed.
If you submitted an application before the 15 February deadline, please note that submitting an application does not guarantee sponsorship. The GICHD Conference Department will inform successful applicants by the end of February, at the latest.
Before you travel
Visa information
Participants are responsible for making their own visa arrangements to enter Switzerland. Information can be found at: travel documents for entering Switzerland.
Travel insurance
Participants are responsible for having adequate travel and health insurance for the duration of their stay in Switzerland.
Arrival in Geneva
Geneva airport is located 4 km from the centre of Geneva and is easily accessible by train, bus, or taxi.
Trains
The fastest way to travel from the airport to the centre of Geneva is by train. All trains departing from or going to the airport stop in the centre of Geneva at the main train station, Gare Cornavin.
The train journey takes seven minutes, and up to seven trains per hour run between the airport and Cornavin train station.

Buses
Buses run between the airport and Geneva. Busses depart from outside the front of the airport at the check-in level, one level above arrivals.
The following busses run between the airport and the city centre.

Bus 10 heading to “Rive” stops at Geneva city centre.

Bus 5 heading to “Thônex-Vallard” stops at Place des Nations (the UN and CICG), international organizations and the city centre.

You can buy bus and tram tickets using machines at every bus and tram stop. A UNIRESO zone 10 ticket costs CHF 3.00 and allows you to travel to the city centre by train from the airport.
Taxis
A taxi ride from the airport to Geneva centre costs about CHF 35 and takes about 15 minutes.
Accommodation
Participants are responsible for making their own hotel arrangements. Please note that hotel accommodation can be limited in Geneva. For this reason, we strongly recommend that you book your accommodation well in advance of the meeting.

At the Conference Venue
The NDM-UN29 will be held at the Geneva International Conference Center known in french as the Centre International de Conférences Genève (CICG). Venue Address 17 rue de Varembé, CH - 1202 Geneva, Switzerland (Map link)
Getting there
From the main train station “Cornavin”:
Take bus 5 heading to “Genève Aéroport” and get off at the bus stop “Vermont”
Take bus 20 heading to “Valavran” and get off at the bus stop “Varembé”
Take tram 15 heading to “Nations” and get off at the tram stop “Sismondi”
On foot: approx. 25 minutes (2.1 km)
From the airport:
Take bus 5 heading to “Thônex-Vallard” and get off at the bus stop “Vermont”
By taxi approx. 15 minutes
From the motorway: Take motorway exit “Genève Lac”, continue along the lakeside to arrive in the International Geneva sector and access the CICG right at the heart of it. The closest parking lot is the Parking des Nations, located 50 metres from the CICG.
Conference rooms
Plenary sessions will take place in the conference room Amphitheatre D (1st floor).

All plenary sessions in Amphitheatre D and some of the side events will be conducted in ‘Davos style’ to encourage more interactive discussions between the panelists and the audience.
Sessions will be recorded. Recordings will be made available on the NDM-UN29 meeting website following the meeting. The meeting organizers are committed to providing accessible and inclusive services, physical spaces, and information to persons with disabilities. In case a member of your delegation requires special seating arrangements in the conference room, please inform the meeting organizing team (unmasgeneva@un.org) in advance.
Meeting badges
Meeting badges will be available for pick-up at the main entrance of CICG on Wednesday, 22 April starting at 08.00. A passport or identity card is required to collect your badge. For security reasons, meeting badges must always be worn and visible while in the CICG.
Catering
Coffee and tea break
Coffee breaks will be offered to participants in the morning and in the afternoon.
Lunch
There is a cafeteria and a coffee shop inside the CICG and several restaurants nearby where meeting participants can buy lunch.
Prayer Room
A prayer room is available at the CICG. Information will be available at the CICG reception desk.

Programme & Participation
Agenda
The full agenda will be available on the NDM-UN29 meeting website closer to the date of the meeting.
Interpretation
Interpretation into English, French and Arabic will be provided during the plenary sessions.
Side events will be in English only, unless noted otherwise in the programme.

UNMAS and GICHD are committed to enabling an event at which everyone can participate in an inclusive, respectful and safe environment. NDM-UN29 is guided by the highest ethical and professional standards, and all participants are expected to behave with integrity and respect towards all participants attending or involved with it. Cancellations
If your plans change and you will no longer attend the meeting, or if you face any last-minute cancellation, kindly inform the organizing team (unmasgeneva@un.org) as early as possible.
Communications
Meeting participants are welcome to communicate about side events on social media, and to share their experiences on their organization/and personal social media accounts using the hashtag #NDMUN29.
A limited number of proffessional conference photos will be available on the official event webpage, www.ndmun.org. Photos taken during the meeting will be uploaded once a day. Photos can be downloaded and used by meeting participants to communicate about conference activities. Photos should be credited to “© XXXX”.
Meeting photographer
A photographer will take photos during the meeting. If you object to the possible use of your image, please notify the meeting planning team umasgeneva@un.org..
